Nyla's Impurity
About This Book
Nyla has spent her whole life deaf to the guidance that comes from heaven. Each time her angelic gifts have surfaced, the people she loves have paid with suffering and ruin, and that history has left her dreading what she might become. She is not the only one who fears her potential, since the other angels feel the same way. Meanwhile, demons are multiplying across the land like a sickness, and only six human nations remain, all teetering on the edge of collapse. Survival seems to depend on Nyla and on a reservoir of power she has never tapped. When one of the surviving nations, the last refuge of the few angels still alive, asks for aid, she is suddenly thrust into the public eye. Accompanying her is Talivus, her protector and teacher, a soldier of the elite Fifth Legion of Dessedra. Together they cross the continent in search of allies against the demonic advance. The journey turns hostile quickly. Nyla learns that the angels themselves are hunting her, and the world she relied on begins to fall apart. Loyalties weaken, the leaders of the world make decisions driven by shifting and unreliable principles, and her personal life is upended as her heavenly inheritance awakens. The story asks whether she can conquer her fears and rescue what is left of humankind, and what that rescue might demand of her.
