About this book
For a long time, the people of Oagoo lived in a rut, their island community changing little from one generation to the next. A handful of restless members eventually pushed outward. Being islanders, they took to the sea, improving their craft from simple dugout canoes to boats covered in hide and then to ever more capable vessels. Their voyages brought them fresh minerals and new sources of food, which their growing population needed.
Their most important discovery was that other peoples existed beyond their shores. The warlike Moogites ended up sharing a second island with the Oagoons. Over the centuries, a volcano and the Moogites confronted Igon, a later leader of the Oagoons, with a difficult choice: resist by force, accept a subordinate position, or find some other way forward.
