Offline Diaries

This new middle-grade series comes from the team behind Slay in Your Lane, and it follows two Year 8 girls as they navigate friendship, falling out and everyday life. Ade has just joined a new school after her family moved, and she is far from pleased about it, partly because the move was her stepdad's decision. Shanice has already spent a year at the school. Since losing her mum, she has been looking after her time with her dad and her older brother, who she finds irritating, and she spends most of her hours away from class in her dad's hair salon.

The two girls meet at the salon, where they notice each other's diaries. They quickly become friends and start chatting online, but being friends face to face turns out to be a different matter. The story is told in the alternating voices of Ade and Shanice, and it is a funny, contemporary look at friendship for readers aged nine and up.
