Once Bitten

Leslie Parker is an aspiring romance novelist. The dragon's blood that rescued her from drowning in the Atlantic left her with an unexpected side effect: she is now a vampire. She had hoped the Readers' Cruise would finally make her the best at something, but that dream ends when she goes overboard, and she is pulled back from death's grip only through the intervention of Alistair McLeod, a dragon-shifter whose existence is supposed to be impossible.

Waking up undead, Leslie finds herself recruited into the Order, a supernatural security force that guards a secret society hidden within the shadow world. Her new life is full of peril, political maneuvering and killings. When women are found drained and savaged by vampire bites, Leslie becomes the Order's prime suspect. The crimes strike at the Order's core principles, and that puts the organization at odds with her.

To survive, Leslie must accept the magical destiny she has been pushed toward, or she will become another victim of a lethal threat. The book is the second entry in the Order of the Dragon series and is meant to be read in order, following the prequel Zero Hour: Prequel and preceding Twice as High and Three Little Words.
