One Rule

The narrator believes danger does not lurk in shadows but walks openly in broad daylight. He has known Liliana Armas since they were teenagers, and over the years she has become a fixation he feels he has no right to want. She is the younger sister of his closest friend, and his own past is stained by killing.

He has promised that Miami's streets will run with the blood of anyone who has wronged the people she loves, and he means to offer this vengeance to her as a wedding gift. Liliana is searching for the man who killed her father, and he lets her pursue the answers while quietly keeping watch over her every move, ready to act in the darkness he controls.

Time has done nothing to loosen her hold on him. Most things, he insists, can be forgiven, but not what happened when someone ignored his one rule. As far as he is concerned, Liliana belongs to him, and no one else may touch her.
