Open House

Ten years after art student Emma McCullough vanished into the woods near her upstate New York university town, her case remains unsolved and continues to weigh on the community and on her family. Her sister Haley has become consumed by the need for answers. Emma's disappearance still shadows her three closest college friends and a former teacher who was fond of her.

The case reopens when Emma's bracelet turns up, frozen into the earth at the bottom of a gorge. For the people who knew her, the discovery is more than a lead. It stirs up old memories and raises new fears. When a woman is attacked during an open house, investigators and readers begin to see links between the two crimes, separated by a decade of winters.

This psychological suspense novel comes from Katie Sise, who also wrote We Were Mothers. As the past resurfaces, the secrets buried in this quiet river town prove as tangled and hidden as its currents.
