Oshun's Flow

In West Africa, the Yoruba goddess Oshun, also spelled Osun, is associated with freshwater and with life itself. In this children's story, her flowing water is what allows the land to bloom, but that flow depends on people showing her respect and gratitude.

The people of Osogbo still remember this obligation, though people in other parts of the world have forgotten it. That leaves an open question: can the water keep flowing everywhere? The children of Osogbo step in to help Oshun, the water and the wider world.

The book is part of the Yoruba Orisa Children's Series, and its stories come from the ancient sacred narratives of Odu Orisa and Ifa. It is intended to introduce young readers to African culture and to the importance of caring for the environment.
