Panther Gap

Bowman and Summer grew up on a remote Colorado ranch, raised by their father and two uncles. The two siblings responded differently to their father's radical teachings and to the confusions of adolescence. By adulthood they had drifted apart.

In their thirties, the prospect of an illegal and potentially dangerous inheritance from their grandfather brings them back together. To face ruthless criminal forces trying to extort the inheritance, they must come to terms with each other and with their shared past.

Panther Gap is set in the rugged American West, among drug cartels, shadowy domestic terrorists and shady business interests. It is a thriller by James McLaughlin, the Edgar Award-winning author of Bearskin. It pairs vivid writing about the natural landscape with a fast, tense plot, and its characters wrestle with legacy, identity and where they belong in the world.
