Perfect Obsession

A string of killings has been striking the New York area, with lovely young women discovered laid out in mausoleums and underground tombs. The FBI has taken the lead, with Special Agent Craig Frasier heading the investigation. Brought in as a consultant is Kieran Finnegan, a forensic psychologist who co-owns Finnegan's, the pub her family runs.

Craig and Kieran are a couple who have collaborated on several earlier cases. This time, though, Craig is worried for the safety of the woman he loves, since the offender seems to be operating uncomfortably close to home. The remains of a young model turn up in a catacomb beneath a church that is two centuries old, no longer consecrated and now functioning as a nightclub. That church stands directly behind Finnegan's in lower Manhattan.

When more women die and their bodies surface in other underground sites across the city, it becomes clear to both the police and the FBI that they are hunting a serial killer. Craig and Kieran are determined to catch him: a man fixated on feminine beauty, who believes he can keep it intact by destroying the women who embody it.
