Pick Me

Her position at Sunday Orchard was meant to be a short stop: some practical experience, a few good months, and a break from her protective brothers. She also hoped to cross paths with a few lumberjacks before moving on to the career she had planned in a big city. Instead, she is welcomed into a family of good-looking, unusually capable lumberjack types, and she finds a sense of purpose in Little Pippin Hollow, a small Vermont town known mostly for its apple products and its friendliness.

She also falls for Knox Sunday, her roommate. He is a gruff, brawny man fifteen years older than she is, who lectures her, carries a sharp air of superiority, makes sarcastic jokes, and sneaks in cuddles when she least expects them.

She keeps postponing her plans, though only for a while. Knox has his own abandoned ambitions: a career he walked away from and a life in Boston he left behind when he returned home to help his family. He insists he wants nothing lasting, and she has never been one to settle down. Her future is waiting somewhere else, yet the town feels like the place she was meant to be, and she wonders how to get Knox to choose her.
