Play It Safe

Little Critter and his friend Gabby spend a day at Bike Safety Camp, where they learn how to stay safe on their bikes. Mercer Mayer created the Little Critter character, who has appeared in many picture books for young children.

This early reader is written for children around ages 5 to 7 and belongs to the Little Critter First Readers line, which includes 30 titles for ages 3 to 8. Each book follows a familiar outing, such as a trip to the zoo, a day at camp, or a class excursion.

The text repeats familiar words and sound patterns to make decoding easier, and colorful illustrations give visual clues. Skill-based activities and a vocabulary list at the back help build comprehension and fluency.
