Power Challenges

Colonizing the solar system is the aim of this novel, and Jake Ross, a former astronaut who now advises the government on space matters and is called in whenever a problem needs solving, is determined to see it through. He believes the way forward is a return to the moon, where a permanent base could serve as a launch point for Mars and beyond, and that such a effort would restore America's standing in space.

The path is crowded with obstacles. Political scheming and rival priorities put the entire program at risk, and the President is nearing the end of his life. Lawmakers who see a moon base as money wasted are pushing back, and the public has little interest in the project. NASA, which would normally champion a venture like this, is holding back after losing its leading role in the program.

But none of these opponents has faced someone with Ross's resolve and skill. His goal is to build the lunar base and to open the way for people to travel to many worlds.
