Pretty Ugly

Pretty Ugly is a picture book from David Sedaris and Ian Falconer. Anna Van Ogre is a monster with a lovely monster face, until it suddenly turns into the face of a sickeningly adorable, rosy-cheeked little girl. The change will not reverse itself.

Anna wants to stop looking like an ugly human and get back her gorgeous, monstrous face, and the story follows her attempt to find a way. Along the way it asks an age-old question: is true beauty really on the inside?

Sedaris is a comedian and Falconer is a children's book author, and this is their joint picture book, with a gross-out sense of humor throughout.
