Prime Evil

Prime Evil gathers thirteen horror stories by different writers into a single volume, edited by Douglas E. Winter, a horror critic and author known for his writing on the genre. The collection opens with Stephen King's "Night Flier" and includes work from Clive Barker, Peter Straub, Ramsey Campbell and Thomas Ligotti, among others.

The remaining contributors are Paul Hazel, Dennis Etchison, Thomas Tessier, M. John Harrison, David Morrell, Charles L. Grant, Whitley Strieber and Jack Cady. Each story is self-contained, so readers can move between them in any order. The tales range across the supernatural, the macabre and the psychological.

The anthology suits adult readers who enjoy short horror fiction and want a broad sampling of late-twentieth-century dark fantasy from well-known names in the field.
