Proverbial Tree

Written by Jack L. Bynum, this book builds its reflections around proverbs handed down by earlier generations. Bynum earned bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Religion from North Carolina Wesleyan College, then a Master of Divinity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. He founded Gospel of Love P.P.B. Church, Inc. and Gospel of Love Ministries, and his career includes work as a pastor, educator, business owner, and licensed mental health professional.

Bynum writes that he hopes readers will come away enlightened and proud of their families, communities, culture, and heritage. He also wants them to recognize what their ancestors contributed to the world, and to remember the hardships those ancestors faced for the family's sake. Each proverb is meant to be reflected on, with the aim of building courage and strength to meet the difficulties of past, present, and future.

The author's central wish is that the wisdom and knowledge of the ancestors will be carried on and shared with future descendants.
