Pug Actually

Doug is a pug with a plan. Told from his point of view, this story follows a wise four-legged matchmaker who has taken it upon himself to sort out the love life of Julie, the woman who rescued him. Readers who enjoyed A Dog's Purpose or The Happy Ever After Playlist should find a similar mix of warmth and wit here.

Doug wants nothing but happiness for Julie, and he is convinced her current partner, Luke, is not the right man for her. Luke is her married boss, and he falls well short of Doug's standards for loyalty and unconditional affection. Julie hesitates to walk away from him, partly because she dreads becoming like the eccentric neighbor who owns cats. Doug finds that prospect appalling too.

Tom, a newly divorced man, seems made for Julie, and everyone around them can see the match except the two people involved. Doug is sure that, with a little help from him, they will move past their early dislike of each other. As he works his way through the puzzling habits of human romance, he refuses to give up on Julie, since rescues, as he sees it, go both ways.
