About this book
Kochicheril argues that we are born into a living order, which he calls the System, that offers the best guide for conducting our lives, though few have grasped what it implies. Those who did were the people who spoke of an unending Reality called Truth, among them Zoroaster, Buddha, Christ and Mohammed, on whose teachings the major religions were later founded.
In his view, human identity, culture and spirituality depend on our connection to the world that belongs to the System, since the fullest life comes from that relationship. Culture decays when awareness is captured by the products of human reasoning, because we are not the products of our own systems. When communities declined under narrow systems for managing life, a rare few who sensed the System called for living by it, which they named Truth. A mind that reconnects with it is guided by timeless qualities, the highest state of consciousness available to us. The author calls this level Pure Reason, because a mind there is not governed by social reasoning.
The faith he calls for differs from religious faiths that deny their followers intelligence. The book presents the Enlightenment attained by the prophets as a concept and examines the dangers of many systems humans have built while cut off from the System that faiths work with. It aims to help readers recover a true sense of self that narrow systems take away. This revised second edition includes seven illustrations.
