About this book
In The Quality School, psychiatrist William Glasser argues that schools are in the business of people and should be run that way. He holds that blame, coercion and criticism have no place in education, because they stop students from doing their best work.
He proposes that schools adopt a lead-management approach, drawing on the ideas of W. Edwards Deming and on his own psychology of choice. In place of bossing and pressuring students, teachers and administrators build supportive relationships. The goal is for students to do quality work, not just enough to get by.
The book is addressed to school administrators, teachers, board members and the university faculty who train teachers.
