About this book
Anne Shirley is now grown up, married to her beloved Gilbert, and the mother of six lively children. Rainbow Valley is the book in the Anne of Green Gables series that shifts the focus to her children and their friends, and it sits between Anne of Ingleside and Rilla of Ingleside. It takes place in the village of Glen St. Mary on Prince Edward Island.
Anne's boys and girls have found a special place of their own, the valley of the title. Their quiet world changes when a very different family moves into an old mansion nearby. The Merediths are two boys and two girls with a minister for a father and no mother. With them comes a runaway girl named Mary Vance.
The Meredith children soon join Anne's in their private hideout. Together they make plans to rescue Mary from the orphanage, to help their lonely minister father find happiness, and to save a pet rooster from the soup pot. Something is always happening in the sun-dappled world of Rainbow Valley.
The author, Lucy Maud Montgomery, was a Canadian novelist best known for creating Anne.
