Ramayanam 2

Ramayanam 2 is the concluding volume of Dushyanth Sridhar's two-part retelling of the Ramayana. It follows Valmiki's text and draws on the traditional commentaries that scholars have used to read it for generations.

The retelling also brings in other works on Rama's story, some well known and some rarely encountered, written in Sanskrit and in regional languages. The author adds a measured amount of creative storytelling to connect these sources, within limits that traditional scholars accept as faithful to the epic.

The book includes illustrations by the artist Keshav, photographs of rare artifacts found across Asia, and a map tracing the route of Lord Rama's journey. These extras help readers place the story in its landscape and see how widely it has spread.
