Rapture

Mels Carmichael is a reporter for the Caldwell Courier Journal, and her evening takes a sudden turn when a man staggers into the road outside the town cemetery and into the path of her car. He survives, but he has lost his memory. For a journalist who can't resist a puzzle, that is an irresistible hook.

The closer she gets to his buried past, the less ordinary the answers become. Mels and the stranger fall hard for each other even as they realize how far out of their depth they are. The line between the everyday world and another realm keeps thinning, and shadows move across it. As his memories return, they uncover something bigger than one man's secrets: some things refuse to stay dead and buried.

Both of them are caught in a merciless war between angels and demons, a conflict that plays out through seven chosen souls and the seven deadly sins. A cynical fallen angel stands in the middle of it, and a human soul hangs in the balance. With Mels's heart also at stake, the question is what it will take, in Heaven or in Hell, to get them both out alive. This is paranormal romance from J.R. Ward, in her Fallen Angels series.
