This book completes the Love Seeker trilogy. Quinlan is raised in the sheltered setting of upstate New York in the 1950s. Her family later moves to California, where she quickly adopts the persona of a 1960s rebel.

Her adult years take her across Europe and Israel. She trains with Jerzy Grotowski, the theatre director whose experimental methods shaped many artists, and she becomes involved with well-known actors and with a celebrated figure in Israeli music whose life ends tragically.

Rather than a conventional account of excess, the memoir charts the highs and lows of her life: moments of elation and stretches of despair, reckless behavior, self-destructive habits, missteps, and eventually, something close to miracles. Throughout, she is propelled by a persistent search for love, peace, and a place of her own in the world.
