Red Socks

Baby has fun with Mama as she dresses Baby and talks about each item of clothing. Uh-oh! One of the baby's socks is missing! Once the sock is found and Baby is all dressed, it's time to go play outside. Little ones will love spotting the missing sock. Adults can learn ways to support children's language development from Red Socks . Small Talk Books TM are playful stories featuring young children and adults talking and having fun together. The books also show adults how to build young children's language through conversation, during everyday small moments together. Frequent small talks add up to big learning gains for young children! Adult characters in the stories model fun and enriching ways to talk with babies and young children. In Red Socks , the mother talks with her baby, even though the baby isn't communicating with words yet. One of the things that the mother does is to talk with the baby about what she, Mama, is doing. Each book in the series also contains a note by early childhood language and literacy expert Dr. Betty Bardige, author of Talk to Me, Baby! How You Can Support Young Children's Language Development .
