Reflections II

This second volume extends Reflections I, an earlier account in which Allan Edward Young mixed the factual and the imagined to portray his life. Young (Columbia University, 1967) has moved through academic posts, consulting work for government, and investment advisory roles in business, fields he describes as somewhat interchangeable.

His relationships range from friendships that lasted a lifetime to ones that passed quickly, and from connections of doubtful worth to others he considers impossible to measure. His work and travels have taken him to every continent except Antarctica.

He has had both achievements and serious mistakes, some of which caused real harm to others. Asked what all of it adds up to, he admits he cannot say for certain, so he has recorded these experiences as a narrative in the hope of getting closer to an answer.
