About this book
This collection grows out of a workshop on world trade and trade policy held at the 1996 EADI conference. Its contributors examine the recent rise of regional trade arrangements from several angles, each shaped by the concerns of a different institution.
The essays weigh what regional blocs do to the economies inside and outside them, and what they mean for policy and economic performance in developing countries. They also ask what these arrangements imply for international economic institutions. Throughout, the authors try to explain these developments using economic and political theory.
