About this book
The collection begins by asking what someone might do differently in loving themselves if given the chance to live again. Its poems grow out of everyday struggles, including mental illness, the work of self-love, faith passed down through family, and an identity that keeps changing over time.
The poems draw their imagery from the earth and the life cycles of plants and green growth. Within that frame, the collection explores spiritual development, the passing of time, sexuality and gender, living with physical and mental health conditions, and the mysteries that exist inside us and in the world around us.
The book encourages readers to plant new seeds of self-compassion and to cultivate them. It suggests that the ground beneath us is open to learning again, even after we have been hurt or have strayed from ourselves.
