Return to Darkness

Michael has withdrawn into the silent rooms of Sanctum Arcanum, where he has lived in isolation since losing Caitlin. Grief and the memories of a grim earlier period keep him company there. What finally draws him out is a pair of rumors: hidden passages described in an ancient Grimoire, and talk of a second Beryllus.

His close friend and editor, Ole' Papra, urges him to resume his paranormal investigations, and this leads Michael to Leonora Bradley. Strange occurrences have been plaguing her, and she asks him to look into her family's ancestral home. As the inquiry deepens, her cousin Cheryl becomes involved, and it becomes clear that something far more malevolent is at work. Michael finds himself caught in a long-running feud, moving between demons and the Darkness, with a fallen angel possibly holding the only real chance at salvation and a nightmare already set loose.
