Revelation

Written by Jimmie Hancock, this devotional reading takes up the final book of the Bible and interprets it as a message to believers living under Roman rule in the latter part of the first century. Hancock contends that the book was meant to reassure Christians who were suffering persecution and to give them hope in hard times.

The subtitle, The Fifth Gospel, points to the author's central claim: that Revelation presents the saving grace of Jesus Christ and assures readers that evil will be defeated in his name. On this view, the book carries forward the proclamation found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. This second edition rewords some sentences for greater clarity and adds a set of questions and answers.
