Rise

Tessa's buried past comes back with painful sharpness while a bloody conflict still rages around her. Once she learns that her own sister is the one behind the killings tearing through Hinton, she decides to stop the violence herself. This time she will be the one who hands down judgment, on behalf of her club, her hometown, and the man she loves.

With a rival charter still hunting her and no certainty that her own people will spare her after a chain of betrayals she never meant to commit, Tessa goes to Police Chief Dunbar, the one man in town who has a stake she can exploit. Dunbar agrees to help, but he has troubles of his own. Once they surface, they set off a chain of events that threatens everyone in Hinton, from grown adults to children.

The townspeople want to get out, yet the people they trust most may be the greatest danger. Fire and flood have both followed Tessa through the river town, and she is determined to defend Hinton one last time. Will the law stand with her? Will the Leidolf? Or is she standing in a target that no one will let her escape? Whatever her enemies have done, they will answer for it in kind, and Tessa means to collect from every one of them.
