Roamers

As Western civilisation nears its end, a people known as the pulldogs undergo a deep transformation of their way of life. Nanites, tiny machines that assemble molecules into matter, spread through their world and change how they eat. The culture that emerges echoes the wandering life of ancient nomads, yet it feels inventive and new.

Freed from the constant need to find food, and able to 3D print objects and draw on cloud computing, the pulldogs face a choice that would once have seemed unthinkable and even outdated: to start a new life. The novel asks whether that life can truly be called an Arcadia.
