Rosamond

Rosamond, a girl of about seven, walks through the crowded streets of London with her mother. Carts, carriages and wheelbarrows surround them, and she is too wary to let go of her mother's hand, so she can only gaze at the shop windows. Each display sparks a new wish, whether for toys, ribbons, artificial flowers or jewels, and each wish prompts her mother to ask what the object is actually good for.

This is one of Maria Edgeworth's moral tales for young readers, and the volume also contains other stories. Edgeworth was an Anglo-Irish writer known for children's stories that aimed to shape a child's judgment and habits. This edition is a digital reproduction of an older printed work.
