Rough Weather

Spenser, the Boston private investigator, takes what looks like an easy job: keeping watch over a lavish society wedding held at an exclusive private estate. The guests are wealthy, the setting is polished, and the assignment is simply to make sure nothing disturbs the day.

Then something does. The young bride is abducted while Spenser is on duty, and the celebration collapses into a crisis he was hired to prevent. What begins as a kidnapping soon widens into murder, and the family at the center of the event turns out to be hiding secrets that bear directly on what happened.

As Spenser digs into the case, a dangerous figure from his past resurfaces, giving the investigation a personal edge. Rough Weather is a Spenser novel by Robert B. Parker, built around the hard-boiled detective's dry wit, stubborn sense of duty, and willingness to push into a wealthy family's closed world to find the truth.
