Sanctuary

Left alone and feeling forlorn, a large, elderly brown dog sets out to find companionship and a secure place to live. His journey takes him through forests and open fields, where he meets a variety of wildlife. Yet no one he encounters has a place for him to stay, and none of them know what he is called.

Ruthie's farmhouse, on the Wilderness Sanctuary, has a home waiting for him, but getting there is its own question. Will the dog find his way, and once he arrives, will Ruthie manage to learn his name?

Written for young readers, this gentle tale shows how friendship can grow and how abandoned animals can be given new homes through the work of rescue groups and wilderness sanctuaries.
