Nobody understands why a fresh cornerstone has surfaced alongside an unsettling monk. Rook, the figure at the heart of it all, seems to have picked this moment for a long sleep, leaving everyone else without explanations.

Lorcas is left to search for allies on his own. Zumar has vanished, Tomash is buckling under his responsibilities, Raine has fallen from favor, and Tondra and Alan are absorbed in troubles of their own. Detective Jason Japert might be able to help, but he could just as easily be working against Lorcas.

A confrontation is clearly coming, though it is unclear whether it will be with Jack Bright and the Knights, a hidden faction of the Fell Ken, or Rook himself. This fourth and final volume of the Cornerstone series follows Raising Rook, The Delving and The Wellspring.
