Scourged
About This Book
Scourged brings the Iron Druid Chronicles to its end. Atticus O'Sullivan, a Druid who has lived for two thousand years, now faces the enemies he has been dreading for a long time. Loki and Hel have slipped free of the fate that was meant to bind them, and they intend to set off Ragnarok, the Norse end of the world. They have also gathered supporters from the darker corners of several pantheons, so the coming fight will not be confined to one place. The story follows three separate fronts. In Taiwan, Granuaile MacTiernan joins the immortals Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen against the Yama Kings, and she soon learns the conflict carries far more weight than she had assumed. Meanwhile Archdruid Owen Kennedy rushes from Bavaria to Peru, dealing with crises both literal and figurative, determined to keep the world safe for his apprentices and to give Druidry a future. Atticus, for his part, assembles an unlikely crew: a tyromancer, a witch from India, and a trickster god. He hopes they can give him enough leverage to rescue Gaia and still be alive when the sun comes up. His hound Oberon, who has certainly earned a snack by now, is with him throughout. This is the final novel in a long-running urban fantasy series, so it suits readers who have followed Atticus from the start and want to see how his story is resolved.
