Scribbled Journeys

This illustrated volume gathers 49 poems that move between humorous memories of early childhood and tales of enchantment and daring. One runs follows a pair of brothers setting off on a wild hunt for a hoard of gold said to wait beyond a rainbow. Other figures include a girl who inherits an enchanted piano from her grandmother, a boy who keeps company with a cross-tempered carved pumpkin, and a goldfish whose identity is uncertain, possibly something other than a fish.

The remaining poems are just as varied. Some explore the secret lives of socks, while others explain the everyday work guide dogs do for the blind people who rely on them.

Drawing on the dreams of youth and the changing of the seasons, the collection is written for families, with children and grown-ups invited to read it together.
