Selected Poems

This bilingual collection of Bertolt Brecht's poetry is designed to make his work accessible to a present-day audience. It shows the range of the German poet's insightful and compelling verse, with the German and English texts presented together.

The selection runs from Brecht's early Manual of Piety to his late Songs, Poems, and Choruses, and includes songs from his theater works. Brecht is counted among the most influential poets and playwrights of the 20th century.

The poems are translated from the German and introduced by the poet H.R. Hays.
