About this book
Hazel and Fox have a lovely home, two young children and a shared secret: at night they quietly get rid of men who have it coming. They have mostly given up the killing life, but balancing school runs and homework with the occasional homicide is proving harder than either of them expected. Self-Help for Serial Killers is the funny follow-up to Asia Mackay's A Serial Killer's Guide to Marriage.
Life in the suburbs is not helping. A tyrannical school mum has set her sights on Haze, while Fox is shaken by performance anxiety after a kill that went badly wrong. Therapy is getting them nowhere, and the bullet journal has taken on a rather different meaning in their household. Both of them seem to be sliding into a midlife crisis, which turns out to be more dangerous than murder.
Then things get worse. Without meaning to, the couple bring a dangerous group to their door, and they have to get their act together quickly. Keeping up appearances in suburbia is no longer the main problem. Now they are fighting to protect their family, and the book's cheerful lesson is that any self-improvement plan has to begin with staying alive.
