Shattered
About This Book
Atticus O'Sullivan has been a Druid for two thousand years, and in this seventh Iron Druid Chronicles novel he finally gets to be the one giving the lessons. His apprentice Granuaile has completed her training and is a full Druid in her own right. Atticus has also thawed out an archdruid who spent ages frozen in time, a gruff father figure of sorts who now goes by Owen Kennedy, the modern form of his old Irish name. Owen has a lot of catching up to do. He has to learn English, make sense of the cell phone, and find time to needle Atticus at every turn. Atticus enjoys seeing the roles reversed, though he can't yet tell whether the wily old man will prove a real asset in the coming fight against the Norse god Loki or just a pain in the arse. Atticus isn't the only one wrestling with family trouble. Granuaile travels to India to free her father from the spirit of a sorcerer that has taken hold of him. Even with the witch Laksha helping, she may be heading for a bruising defeat. Meanwhile, the Fae of Tír na nóg are in open rebellion, and an ancient demon who summons plague is on the loose. The road there is crowded with bacon-loving yeti, fierce flying foxes and frenzied Fae. With three Druids on the case for the first time, the hope is that the number brings some luck. This is urban fantasy that mixes humor, action and a wide sweep of world mythology.
