Shifting Ice

An ex-convict is found bound and beaten in a warehouse. On the way to hospital he leaves behind a cryptic message and then dies. DI McCord takes the case through the icy streets of Edinburgh, trying to work out what the man knew that was worth killing him for.

Meanwhile, Amy Thornton, a lively fashion journalist and enthusiastic amateur sleuth, is out of favor. She has been sent to cover a garden centre and told to stay clear of anything to do with crime. Fate, however, seems set on bringing her path across the detective's, and trouble tends to follow.

Shifting Ice is the fourth standalone mystery in Traude Ailinger's series.
