Sira

Sira is a sequel to The Time in Between, the novel by Spanish author María Dueñas. Sira Quiroga, who began as a seamstress, went on to become a couturier and then a spy, has at last settled into a quieter life with her husband Marcus, a British diplomat, and looks forward to becoming a mother. That calm does not last.

Posted to Jerusalem during the British Mandate, Sira moves among dubious characters, political threats and bloodshed, and her marriage faces its hardest trial. Once again she must remake herself. After relocating to England, she takes on the persona of a reporter sent to Spain. Her talent for deception is called upon anew, and figures from her past resurface, intent on causing trouble.

The story travels from Jerusalem and London to Franco's Madrid and colonial Tangier, and includes real historical personalities. It unfolds against the years following the Second World War.
