Skeleton Hill

Lansdown Hill near Bath has seen fighting and burials for centuries, so bones turning up there hardly surprises anyone. A fresh body beside Beckford's Tower, the hill's odd folly, is another matter, and it lands on the desk of Peter Diamond, Bath's Head of CID. The case pulls him into a tangle of golf clubs, racehorses, Civil War re-enactors and a message written in Cyrillic letters. Diamond also clashes with the Lansdown Society, a self-appointed watch group, and learns that his own superior, Georgina, belongs to it. Wanting him out of the way, she posts him to Bristol and gives the skeleton inquiry to his deputy, Keith Halliwell. Her scheme does not run as smoothly as she intends.
