Skills

Few careers unfold in a neat line from start to finish. Most people's working lives bend and double back, and a move to something new can feel daunting when you do not know where to begin. The Common Denominator, written by Asha Aravindakshan, helps readers work out which industries, job roles and employers suit them, and which contacts in their professional and personal circles to approach along the way.

At its core is a method for identifying transferable skills and presenting them to hiring managers so that a candidate stands apart. The book blends encouragement with practical instruction, drawing on the experiences of 25 people who changed careers to show how each repositioned themselves for a successful transition.

The guide is intended for anyone entering the job market for the first time or looking to pivot, and it aims to help readers secure the role made for them.
