Soft Lad

Nick Grimshaw, the British broadcaster and presenter, offers a candid look at the views, unexpected fixations and personal experiences that have shaped him. He follows his path from Oldham in Greater Manchester to a new life in London, and the fourteen years of work that carried him to the head of the Radio 1 breakfast show.

The book covers a wide range of ground, including his passion for music, how he looks after himself, nights out both wild and life-changing, the process of growing up, Red Nose Day, coming out, his dogs and family, living with ADHD, and his Catholicism. Each topic is approached through the events that defined it for him.

The stories cover what went well and what went badly, both in his career and in his private life, with the full spectrum of highs and lows. The tone is nostalgic and sincere, with plenty of humour about the shifting pop culture trends that everyday life tends to follow.
