Spell correctly

The aim of SPELL CORRECTLY is to build permanent spelling power. Pupils are introduced systematically to the sound-letter patterns and to the structure of English words. Familiarity with the logic of the language fosters lifetime ability to master new words. In Spell Correctly 1 this is accomplished by spelling sounds with letters, not just by writing letters in isolation for handwriting drill. Pupils write letters to spell a whole word as early as Unit 2, page 12. In Unit 4 they write whole words (color words), and in Unit 6 pupils spell sounds to complete words in the context of sentences. Capitalization and punctuation are taught wherever appropriate, so that children write words and sentences correctly.
