Stargazer

Diana Martin has spent most of her life in the shadow of an older brother who takes pleasure in cruelty. Next door, she watches the Taylors with fascination, especially Marianne Taylor, a celebrated fashion designer, and Aurelle, the daughter everyone admires. Diana longs to be one of the Taylor girls, and that longing shapes how she sees herself and the people around her.

By the summer of 1995, Diana and Aurelle are students together at a remote university that feels more like a summer camp than a college. Both have fled wealthy families and painful histories, and both want to build new identities for themselves. Their bond runs deeper than friendship, and they lose themselves in the nearby woods and water, where the days blur into indulgence.

When Diana, an aspiring artist, is offered a real chance at fame, the fragile harmony between the two friends begins to crack. The novel asks how far Diana is willing to go to secure the stardom she wants.
