Starry Night

Carrie Slayton writes the society column for a big-city paper, and she is tired of it. She wants to report real news, and her editor finally offers her a deal: she can pick any subject she likes, but first she has to land an interview with Finn Dalton, the reclusive author nobody in the press has ever managed to reach.

Finn wrote a huge bestselling memoir about surviving in the wild, then retreated to the Alaskan wilderness. He turns down every interview request, and his exact location is a mystery even to people who follow him closely. Carrie goes through his past piece by piece and comes up with a theory about where he might be hiding.

It is the holiday season, and acting on her hunch means missing Christmas with her family. With her career on the line, she makes the trip to snowy Alaska anyway. Finn turns out to be more charming than she expected, and also more stubborn. The longer she stays, the harder it becomes to choose between the story that could define her career and the feelings she is starting to have for him.

This is a warm Christmas novel about finding happiness somewhere unexpected. The book also includes a bonus short story, "Lost and Found in Cedar Cove."
