Stealing the network

Closing out the Stealing the Network series, this installment is a work of fiction built around realistic computer intrusions and the defenses that answer them. Knuth, the enigmatic mastermind who has haunted the earlier volumes, becomes the quarry of investigators and criminal rivals who are as sharp as he is. The chase runs across continents and through the internet. Along the way the characters exploit everyday hardware, including game consoles, printers, fax machines, and the switches and routers that carry service provider traffic, to hide their trails and mislead pursuers. The story also covers physical security and gathering information from open sources. It is written to entertain while teaching the techniques behind its scenes.
