Successful Failure
About This Book
Kevin Fredericks, known online as KevOnStage, is a stand-up comedian with a huge social media following, an NAACP Image Award, a studio of his own, and a bestselling book to his name. In Successful Failure he argues that none of it came in a straight line. The book is a collection of stories about the detours, flops and embarrassments that came first, told by someone who clearly finds them funnier now than he did then. The comedy started early. As a kid, Kevin figured out that making grown-ups laugh could buy him a later bedtime. In church plays he threw himself so hard into the role of Goliath that he ended up with a busted lip, and the audience loved every second. He wanted to be a performer and to land the big break that would put him in front of the whole country, but the route turned out to be longer, stranger and more humiliating than he had pictured.
