Sun and the Void

Sun and the Void is an epic fantasy set in a lush world inspired by the history and folklore of South America. It deals with colonialism and ancient magic, and follows two young women searching for a place to belong.

Reina lives on the margins of society and is desperate. Her only hope is an invitation from a grandmother she has never met. The journey is perilous, and prayer cannot always ward off disaster. Creatures that prowl the region attack her, and she is close to death when her grandmother, a dark sorceress, steps in. Reina now depends on the Doña's magic to stay alive and will do whatever it takes to win and hold her favor, even carrying out the wishes of an ancient god who whispers to her at night.

Eva Kesare is unwanted. Illegitimate and of mixed heritage, she is her family's shame, so she tries to be perfect and conceal her oddities. Her secret is that magic calls to her. Magic is the mark of the dark god and punishable by death, so she knows she should resist. Yet power is hard to refuse when it has always been kept from you. Eva is following a dangerous path that grows stranger each day, and in the end she will become something she never imagined.
